Delmarva Power supplies power to more than 1,000 homes with ghost power

— The Delmarvans power company says its customers are being charged $1,000 a month for a unit of power that they don’t even own.

The company says in a statement that the $1.50 monthly fee was set to go away after it received complaints from some customers about their electric bill.

The $1-a-month rate for the unit of electric power is called a “chargeable power,” which is typically charged by the electric company.

The $1 fee was designed to cover a portion of the cost of a unit.

Delmarva Energy says its average rate of $1 per month is a small price to pay for the benefits of electric generation, as well as reliability and affordability.

“The rate is designed to allow customers to choose between two options: a fee-free, non-chargeable option or a monthly fee of $50,” the company said in the statement.

It said the new $1 monthly fee will take effect on June 1.
