It was a bit of a shock to hear that Roma were set to face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.
But the news is now official.
It is set to be a derby.
The news came from a press conference held at the Maracana on Tuesday, where Roma sporting director Claudio Lotito was asked if the club were set for a match at the Stadio San Paolo.
He said: “We are not set to participate in a match.”
The Italian giants have been linked with a possible transfer of Graziano Pelle, who is set for the Santiago Bernabeua.
Real Madrid are also said to be interested in Pelle.
It was revealed on Monday that Roma had rejected a bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Grazio Pelle in the January transfer window, and he is now expected to leave the club this summer.
Real’s interest in Pellegrini was revealed in March when he said he would be leaving the club in the summer if his contract was not renewed.
Roma have also reportedly been linked to Napoli’s Daniele De Rossi.
However, the club are set to take the decision on whether or not to move for the player, who has one year remaining on his contract.
